Our client, a Japanese print/digital media is looking for a Media Researcher.

Position: Media Researcher

Industry: News Media

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid)

Salary: 55-65k + Benefits package

Responsibilities

• Conduct research, fact-checking, and follow-up on news topics relevant to the bureau’s reporting.
• Analyze current events and key figures based on the needs of the bureau chief and correspondents.
• Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, officials, and experts.
• Assist in arranging and securing exclusive interviews with key individuals.
• Stay updated on U.S. political, economic, social, and cultural developments.
• Schedule and organize interviews; collect and manage related data.
• Identify potential interviewees, conduct preliminary interviews, and report findings.
• Gather and organize information from various media sources.
• Act as liaison with external organizations and arrange media access.
• Collaborate with correspondents to strengthen overall content quality.
• Perform additional tasks to support the Washington bureau’s operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education / or experience in a related field
• Strong sense of journalistic integrity and professionalism
• Proficiency in English and Japanese
• Solid knowledge of and keen interest in American affairs
