The Children's Crisis Residence Manager (CRM) is responsible for collaborating with the Program Director, Clinicians and other team members in overseeing all aspects of operation for the Children's Crisis Residence program. The CRM ensures a safe and therapeutic environment where services are delivered through a trauma-informed approach and are consistent with the child’s conditions and needs. Ensures all aspects of the service delivery is culturally and linguistically appropriate. The CRM Provides direct supervision, support and guidance to program staff and will promote the philosophy and mission of the agency by performing the following duties.

The Crisis Residence program is an 8 bed, unique program, that provides trauma informed care in a therapeutic milieu for children experiencing a psychiatric crisis. The purpose of a Children’s Crisis Residence Program is to stabilize a child’s psychiatric crisis symptoms and restore the child to a level of functioning and stability that supports their transition back to community-based services and supports to prevent or reduce future psychiatric crises. The crisis residence program provides 24/7 monitoring and supervision, as well as intensive crisis treatment and support for the child, family, and caregivers to facilitate the child’s successful return home and/or to the community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the direct supervision and oversight of the Crisis Respite staff, including but not limited to Team Leaders and Caseworkers. Provides support and guidance to program staff.
  • Responsible for providing Individual, group, and Family therapy.
  • Responsible for completing Individual Treatment plan’s and other necessary paperwork including but not limited to progress notes, safety plans, Columbia Suicide Severity Rating scale (CSSRS).
  • Assists Director with overall planning and direction of the Children’s Crisis Residence (CCR) program and facility.
  • Assists with the training and oversight of direct care staff in the provision of clinically based care for the emotional, physical and personal well-being of each child ensuring a nurturing, structured and protective environment.
  • Assists Care Coordinator in identifying and linking children and families to services within the community.
  • Responsible for data collection pertaining to the program.
  • Assists the Director of Crisis Services in training CCR staff in Trauma Informed Practices.
  • Ensures and creates a Trauma Informed environment free from re-traumatization.
  • Ensures safety of staff and clients through continuous training, and following and enforcing policies and practices.
  • Engages in intake process for all potential residents.
  • Assists in preparing all required federal and state reports as required.
  • Assists in the evaluation of project activities.
  • Acts as a liaison for the program by attending community meetings with a focus on improving services and resources for residents.
  • Assist staff and residents in maintaining a clean residence.
  • Ensures ongoing compliance and quality assurance with state and federal regulations applicable to the operations of the crisis residence.
  • Additional duties may be assigned, on an as needed basis.

Education/Experience:

  • Master's degree (MSW or MHC) required from four-year college or university in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Behavioral Health or related field.

  • Professional License by the New York State Education Department is required and operating within the practitioner’s scope of practice as defined by New York State law. This license includes that of a licensed social worker (LMSW or LCSW) or a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC). If not licensed, must be license eligible upon hire, with plans to test.

  • Significant related experience and/or training in the areas of children and youth residential living and/or crisis residence experience.

  • Clearance with the New York State Central Registry and New York State Justice Center.

  • Valid New York State driver's license.

  • Will be required to complete First Aid/CPR training, Narcan and Mandated Reporter training, among other job specific required trainings.

  • Prior supervisory / management experience is preferred.
