About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director for Civil Rights to ensure the institution's compliance with federal and state nondiscrimination regulations and civil rights protections. This cabinet-level leadership position is pivotal in maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all community members. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and revising policies and procedures to align with civil rights laws, overseeing the investigation of complaints related to discrimination and harassment, and providing strategic direction for the institution's civil rights compliance programs. Collaboration with various departments to promote a culture of equity and inclusion is also a key aspect of the role. Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years' professional experience in a legal, compliance, or administrative role with a focus on civil rights, and a Bachelor's degree is required. A J.D. or equivalent degree is preferred. The role demands a deep knowledge of current federal and state civil rights laws, experience in managing complex compliance issues, and the ability to work with a diverse community. The ideal candidate will have a background in higher education and a proven track record in developing institutional policies and procedures. Critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to conduct training sessions on nondiscrimination policies are essential. The Executive Director will also be responsible for maintaining comprehensive documentation, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of compliance activities, and leading the Title IX team.
