Job Summary:
The Journeyman Painter & Finisher is responsible for performing high-quality painting and finishing work across both residential and commercial projects. This role includes surface preparation, product selection, mixing, and application of a variety of coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment. The Journeyman Painter must demonstrate strong craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in diverse environments and surface types. This position works closely with the Painting & Finishes Manager and Commercial Construction Superintendent.
Primary Responsibilities:
Clean, prep, and paint a variety of surfaces, including drywall, wood, metal, and masonry in both residential and commercial environments.
Perform advanced surface repairs and finishing techniques to achieve smooth, professional results.
Operate, maintain, and clean a full range of painting tools and equipment, including brushes, rollers, sprayers, and sanders.
Accurately mix and match paint and coatings to meet project specifications.
Communicate material, equipment, and scheduling needs through appropriate channels.
Complete work orders and purchase orders in line with company procedures.
Follow established processes to maintain high-quality and efficiency standards.
Track and document inventory use through company systems.
Follow all company safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and equipment.
Adhere to OSHA guidelines and contribute to maintaining a safe, well-organized job site.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment in compliance with company policies and safety regulations.

Expert-level attention to detail and finishing techniques
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in varied surface and job conditions
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with professionalism and accountability
Excellent time management and ability to meet tight project deadlines
Familiarity with or willingness to learn company software, including Slack, Google Suite, and Housecall Pro
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Licenses & Certificates:
Valid driver's license.
Experience:
Minimum of 3–5 years of professional painting experience in both residential and commercial environments.
Provided support, education, and guidance to less experienced painters and finishers.
Proven ability to complete projects from surface prep through final finish with minimal supervision.
Skilled in working with a wide range of materials, including latex, oil-based paints, stains, and specialty coatings.
Experience using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment with precision and care.
Familiarity with advanced techniques such as faux finishes, texture matching, and high-detail trim work is a plus.
Demonstrated reliability, consistency, and pride in craftsmanship on job sites.
Physical Requirements:
Physical stamina and dexterity for extended periods of manual work.
Prolonged periods of standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling.
Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
Ability to climb ladders and work comfortably at heights of 30–40 feet.
