Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Review design documents, shop drawings, and trade submittals for conformance with good building practices regarding water intrusion, air leakage, vapor diffusion, thermal performance, and differential movement.
  2. Conduct field reviews of new construction and rehabilitation projects to ensure building envelope assemblies are constructed according to approved mock-ups and design documents.
  3. Prepare site visit reports, generate Action Lists for deficiencies, and track their resolution.
  4. Perform field testing of building envelope elements to confirm compliance with performance standards and report results.
  5. Interface with architects, general contractors, and sub-trades.
  6. Assist in building envelope design and construction document development.
  7. Perform forensic analysis of building envelope failures.
  8. Conduct presentations to various stakeholders, including legal professionals, contractors, and consultants.
  9. Assist in assessing existing buildings and preparing envelope assessment reports.
  10. Lead and manage project teams of 1-5 staff, focusing on timely and within-budget results.
  11. Develop and lead internal technical training for staff.
  12. Review and write proposals for new work and participate in business development efforts.
  13. Manage and train entry-level staff in technical and non-technical skills.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and knowledge of Bluebeam, CAD, and Revit.
  • Project management skills for multiple projects with budgets over $100,000.
  • Practical knowledge of energy codes, rain screen principles, air barriers, and thermal performance.
  • Effective team collaboration and customer service skills.
  • Willingness to travel regionally weekly and out of state quarterly.
  • Ability to work on active construction sites.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in building envelope assessment, detailing, testing, or construction.
  • Strong understanding of flashing, waterproofing, roofing, cladding, rain screens, and air barriers.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Science with a background in Building Science.
