Job Description

Overview The Traffic Control Manager will serve as the project’s lead authority on all traffic management and temporary traffic control operations. This individual will be responsible for the development, review, approval, and field implementation of all Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) and Traffic Management Plans (TMPs), ensuring compliance with GDOT standards, MUTCD, project-specific technical provisions, and permitting agency requirements. The successful candidate must be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with proven experience leading traffic control operations on highway projects of similar size and complexity. The SR400 Express Lanes Project is a transformative $4.6 billion Design-Build-Finance-Maintain (DBFM) infrastructure initiative designed to enhance mobility and reduce congestion along Georgia State Route 400. What you will be doing Develop and seal comprehensive Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) and Temporary Traffic Control Plans (TTCPs) in support of phased construction and public mobility goals. Lead internal and external design coordination for MOT-related scope including detours, lane closures, temporary signals, and work zone configurations. Collaborate with construction teams, design engineers, utilities, safety, and permitting authorities to ensure plans are constructible, safe, and permit-compliant. Supervise daily implementation of MOT operations, field adjustments, and incident response protocols. Conduct regular field audits to verify alignment with approved traffic plans and to proactively resolve safety and compliance concerns. Oversee all documentation including MOT submittals, approvals, inspection logs, incident tracking, and public notifications. Serve as the liaison with GDOT, local municipalities, law enforcement, emergency responders, and third-party stakeholders for MOT coordination. Mentor and train field personnel and subcontractors on traffic control standards, phasing requirements, and best practices. Represent the project in construction coordination and stakeholder meetings related to traffic staging and impacts. What we are looking for Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Georgia (or ability to obtain reciprocity) required. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related field preferred. Minimum 5–7 years of experience managing MOT and traffic control operations on major highway or express lane projects of similar size and scoperequired. Expert knowledge of GDOT Traffic Control Standards, MUTCD, FHWA guidelines, and local permitting processes. Strong working knowledge of traffic control plan design using tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Bluebeam. Certified MOT Manager, ATTSA Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS), or equivalent GDOT-recognized certification required. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project documentation workflows. Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills; capable of managing a high-volume corridor and multitasking across phases and segments. Experience on Design-Build or DBFM transportation projects with complex phasing and public interface preferred. OSHA 30 Certification and advanced work zone safety training a plus. Familiarity with GDOT PIO processes and public notification coordination preferred.
